Tait House

Committed to providing exceptional service with an emphasis on meeting the budget, while leaving an environmentally sound legacy to the future by considering local conditions and climate - and designing accordingly.

The Tait House is a renovation and extension to a 1970’s brick built house.

Emphasis was on creating open planned spaces and encouraging air to flow through the house, taking advantage of the sea breezes from Moreton Bay. It was also important to establish views to the playing fields of eth local rugby club and also to Moreton Bay.

Two decked areas were created to allow this.

The site is in a Demolition Control Zone and subject to the Character and Small Lot Code. Therefore, the design was sensitive to the local architectural styles, provided articulation to the previous ‘blank’ walls, and introduced additional materials in keeping with the area.
